Nea Fokea is a picturesque seaside town, recognisable by the Byzantine tower above its harbour. Alongside calm beaches and crystal-clear sea, a nearby cave is where, by tradition, the Apostle Paul preached. The tower, about 17 metres high and built around 1407 as a watchtower of the Mount Athos monastery of St Paul, is the only one in Halkidiki preserved at its original height.
